I think you should give these guys a break. It's hard work doing what they do and I don't think the guy in the other review is fully appreciating the fact that there is even a service such as this to sort out all that stuff. From my experience they are nice enough people with good ambitions. Don't be a Debbie downer like this one star nonsense guy that has posted before this. If you want to have a better experience there then you just need to be an optimist. As for the writer of the first review, take a chill pill dude.
We decided to go with these guys as they gave a more competitive price than Edinburgh based solicitors and they had good reviews. What began as promising, when they were initially responsive and attentive, quickly turned sour.We came to them under considerable time pressure to conclude a sale, and as such needed clear instructions, regular feedback and willing communication. We received copious instructions which seemed initially very positive but it soon turned out they were actually needlessly waffling and complex, for no real gain. Because we were using a gifted deposit from someone who was abroad we had to jump through various hoops, and this proved difficult as we were not CCed into communications with this person. This person was in another time zone which meant it was nearly impossible to know the progress of things on this front. With a handful of days before exchange I talked on the phone with Mr Mckinnon who said that we would need to meet in person to sign various documents as they would not arrive in time in the post. Several days later I had heard nothing, but was unable to gain any response or contact with him as it was the weekend and then a 'local holiday'. So the night before we were due to exchange we received an email asking why we hadn't posted the documents. This was perplexing. There was another point during the process where we didn't hear from anyone for nearly an entire week, to then find out that Mr Mckinnon was on holiday and his 'replacement' had made no headway on our sale and in fact had not been informed that she was in charge of it. All quite unnerving for a professional solicitors practice. When my girlfriend visited the office to hand over documents she was heckled by office staff when she did not have all the requested documents despite there being, as mentioned, a vast vacuum where communication should have been. Whoever's 'fault' this terrible communication was, I feel that a company who are charging over 1000 for their services should be actively and positively pursuing the progress of their case, not sitting on their hands until the eleventh hour and then pointing fingers. In case it's unclear, I would not recommend this firm. It is not worth the stress, time wasted and ultimately awful service.
